AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Reactions to Donald Trump's insult to Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the world's Catholics, continue.
Among these reactions, CBS News quoted three senior American cardinals as saying, "Pope Leo inspired us to speak, based on Catholic teachings, against the unjust war with Iran. God wants us to promote peace in the world because His wish is for us to be one human family."
On the other hand, Paul S. Coakley, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, said in this regard, "I am disappointed that the president has written such demeaning words about the Holy Father. Pope Leo is not his rival. The Pope is not a politician either."
Antonio Spadaro, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Civilta Cattolica, also emphasized, "Trump imploringly asks the Pope to back down, but the Pope speaks in a language that is not confined to the framework of force and politics."
Earlier, Donald Trump had described Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the world's Catholics, as "weak" in dealing with crime and foreign policy.
